Part of the Rubiaceae family or the coffee family, mitragyna speciosa or kratom is a tall tree that grows abundantly in Southeast Asia. The leaves of the tree are known to have medicinal benefits, particularly in relieving pain, increasing energy levels, and improving mind alertness.  The finest species of kratom are said to be found in Thailand. The tree itself is tough, branching, and usually grows from 12 to 30 feet. It has evergreen, ovate-acuminate leaves that measure somewhere around 7 inches. It bears yellow flowers with each flower head holding up to 120 florets.

In Thai traditional medicines, kratom is used to cure opiod dependence and to increase coitus duration. People can even get kratom as an anti-diarrhea medicine, and nowadays, it also used to treat anxiety and depression. It also works as a stress-reliever.
